The recent announcement of the new ADAGE biopower plant has generated a few questions. Questions like: What, exactly, is biomass? Will it create jobs for the folks who live here? How will it impact our environment and local infrastructure? What about the air and water?
John Deere and ADAGE have been working together to promote the use of biomass as a safe, renewable source of energy. Formed in 2010, this alliance seeks to bring biomass to the forefront of discussions about new, carbon-friendly ways to meet our growing energy demands and to promote its use. Along with solar, wind and hydroelectric power, we believe that alternative energy resources such as biomass should be phased in alongside more traditional energy sources such as coal and natural gas.
The alliance, however, is more than John Deere and ADAGE. It includes the entire community, including your local landowners, loggers, business leaders, and everyone interested in what the biopower plant brings. Through our outreach, education, and public interaction, we hope to not only build and strengthen our alliance, but also improve our project as whole, and provide you and your local community with the many benefits of biopower.
